Livestock and Hog Markets in the
28th Senatorial District

A couple of weeks ago I touched on fall harvest estimates in our district, including projected yields for corn, soybeans, and wheat. This week, I would like to focus on livestock and hog numbers within our Senate district and throughout our state.
Missouri has a productive livestock and hog market, which continues to be a driving force in our state's number one industry. There are numerous livestock auction houses and markets located throughout our district (in Pettis, Dallas, St. Clair, Polk, and Henry counties) and each one provides individuals in our state and surrounding area with a quality product.
Below are the numbers, which are reported quarterly, regarding the total number of cattle and hogs in our state. These numbers, provided by the Department of Agriculture, also are broken down by counties that make up the 28th Senatorial District.
