Carl Vogel served the people of the 6th District, which at the time included Callaway, Cole, Miller, Moniteau and Morgan counties. Born in Jefferson City, he was a 1973 graduate of Helias High School and a 1978 graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia, where he received a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He began full-time employment with the family business, Jefferson City Coca-Cola Bottling Company, in 1978. He was the fourth-generation family member to be associated with the business and was named president in 1983. Senator Vogel was active in his community and served on numerous boards, including the Helias High School Foundation and St. Mary's Hospital Board of Directors. He was recognized by the Missouri Jaycees as one of Ten Outstanding Young Missourians. He served in the House for 12 years before being elected to the Senate in 2002. Senator Vogel was re-elected in 2006 and served through 2010. (Republican)
