JEFFERSON CITY—The governor today called a special session of the General Assembly that will convene at noon on Thursday, June 24.
The governor is calling lawmakers back to the Capitol to pass the Missouri Manufacturing Jobs Act, which was originally contained in HB 1675. The legislation would provide tax incentives for qualified suppliers or manufacturing facilities that create or retain Missouri jobs, and is aimed at the Ford Motor Company's automotive plant in Claycomo.
Under the bill, the total amount of tax incentives—or retention of employee withholdings taxes—would be capped at $15 million each year.
To offset the costs of the Missouri Manufacturing Jobs Act, the governor is also calling on the General Assembly to pass legislation that would reform the state employee pension system during the course of the special session.
