SJR 3 - This constitutional amendment, if approved by the voters, revises the composition and duties of the Missouri Citizens' Commission on the Compensation for Elected Officials. The reconstituted Commission would be composed of nine members would be appointed in 2000 and every five years thereafter. It is charged with recommending compensation for statewide elected officials, members of the General Assembly and judges selected under the Nonpartisan Court Plan.

The Commission's recommendations shall be submitted to the General Assembly and the General Assembly may modify the recommendations, but may not increase the compensation for any office above that recommended by the Commission. All actions of the Commission and the General Assembly are subject to appropriations. The General Assembly retains the authority to authorize cost of living increases.

This act is similar to SJR 30 (1998).
