Current Bill Summary

SB 929 - This act prohibits partial birth abortion, defined as the termination of pregnancy by using the specified dilation and extraction procedure. After viability has been determined, partial birth abortion is prohibited if there is any other available abortion procedure which would not pose a greater risk to the life or health of the woman. A risk to the woman's health is defined as any condition which, if left untreated, could progress to point where death or permanent injury could result; it does not include condition that negligible risk to life or health, or significant threat to transient health problems. No woman shall be prosecuted for obtaining a partial birth abortion. A person who violates this section shall be guilty of murder in the second degree.
