Current Bill Summary

SB 859 - Current law requires that public school terms start no earlier than September first unless: the school is in session twelve months each year or the school board determines students are needed for agricultural production. This act allows a school starting date prior to September firs, for any district which schedules a term longer than the minimum of one hundred seventy- four days and one thousand forty-four hours.
