Current Bill Summary

HCS/SCS/SB 813 & 864 - This act allows the State Highways and Transportation Commission to provide financial assistance to owners of any privately owned airport designated as a reliever airport by the Federal Aviation Administration. This act would also permit funds for projects designated as emergencies to be made immediately available upon approval by the Missouri Department of Transportation.

Beginning September 1, 1998, the revenues from the sales and use tax on aviation jet fuel, less amounts designated pursuant to the constitution or section 144.701, shall be deposited in the Aviation Trust Fund. The aviation assistance language in Section 17 of SB 1 of the 1997 extraordinary session is repealed.

The definition of a commercial aircraft was changed to require a less certified gross take-off weight, reduced from 10,000 pounds, to 7,000.
