Current Bill Summary

CCS/HS/SCS/SB 735 - This act would ensure that residents of an area annexed after May 26, 1994, may vote in all fire protection district (FPD) elections and may be elected to the district's board of directors. Section 72.418 shall not expire on December 31, 2002.

If an initiative or referendum petition is presented to the Chesterfield FPD board and is signed by at least 25% of the number of voters voting in the last FPD election, the board shall submit the question pursuant to the order or demand of the petition.

A circuit court having jurisdiction over the Chesterfield FPD may stay any action of the district upon the filing of an emergency petition signed by 100 voters in the district.

Any fire protection district in the State may contract the fire services of the district to a private company upon voter approval.

Certain sections of this act have an emergency clause.
