SB 394 - This act would allow the Department of Health, with the guidance of an Advisory Commission created by this act, to develop rules and regulations to implement a check-voucher system for the special supplemental food program for women, infants and children (WIC). The check-vouchers will be redeemable at WIC approved food retailers and shall contain WIC transaction approval, time-period for use, and product approval by unit and volume.

The Advisory Commission shall consist of four grocery wholesalers and four grocery retailers, or their respective representatives. The Advisory Commission will advise the Department of Health on product selection, procedures for acceptance of products, development and implementation of the system which uses check vouchers, fraud prevention and rules and regulations regarding the WIC program.
