SB 379 - This act requires the Commissioner of Education to present to the members of the General Assembly the "paradigms" of the new academic performance assessments at least six months prior to the date of implementation. The assessment system shall not be implemented unless approved by concurrent resolution at least five months prior to the beginning of the school year. If the concurrent resolution to approve the assessment system is not passed, no new assessment system may be proposed until the academic performance standards are approved by concurrent resolution.

The State Board shall establish a procedure to regularly receive advice and counsel from parents, employers and professionals in fields other than education regarding the academic performance standards and assessments.

The act contains an emergency clause.
