HB 680 -- Mississippi River Parkway Commission

This bill requires the Mississippi River Parkway Commission to work toward the planning, construction, maintenance, and improvement of any project that pertains to the area of the Mississippi River Parkway which is funded wholly or partially by tax revenue dollars or wholly or partially by the credit of a political subdivision.

The membership of the commission will be increased from 9 to 11 members, consisting of 2 Senate and 2 House members and 7 members appointed by the Governor with the advice and consent of the Senate. In addition to existing ex officio members, the directors of the departments of Conservation, Agriculture, and Economic Development will be included as ex officio members. All members, other than legislative members, must reside in counties which are adjacent to the Mississippi River. The terms of all the members serving on the commission on the effective date of this bill will terminate on January 1, 1996, and the above mentioned successors will take office.
