HB 563 -- Crime Victims

This bill changes the compensation limits of the recoverable amounts and expenses of crime victims by:

(1) Raising the "out of pocket loss" limit for psychiatric, psychological, or counseling expenses not to exceed $2,500. Current law states these expenses must not exceed $1,000;

(2) Raising victim compensation for preparation and burial expenses not to exceed $5,000. Current law states these expenses must not exceed $2,000; and

(3) Raising victim compensation for loss of earnings or support from gainful employment not to exceed $15,000. Current law limits loss of earnings or gainful employment to $10,000.
