Current Bill Summary

HB 559 - This act modifies the inspection duties of county clerks in third and fourth class counties.

The county clerk may designate an individual to do the quarterly inspection of county lands and buildings. Currently, only the county clerk is authorized to conduct the inspection.

The dollar floor for the annual inspection and inventory is raised from $50 to $250 for an individual item. A further dollar floor of $1,000 in the aggregate for the original value of any property is established.

The county clerk is given the discretion to inspect and inventory any office equipment or county property with an original value which is less than either of the aforementioned floors.

The auditor in non-charter first class counties and all second class counties shall only be required to inventory county property in excess of $250.
