HB 359 -- Fourth Class City Ordinance Petitions

This bill establishes that the residents of a fourth class city may adopt or repeal ordinances by petition. If a petition to adopt or repeal an ordinance is signed by 25% of the registered voters of a fourth class city, then the board of aldermen must pass or repeal the ordinance without alteration or submit the issue to a vote of the residents at the next election. Any ordinance proposed by petition cannot be repealed or amended by the board for 2 years except by a unanimous vote of all board members.
