HCS/HB 339 - This act would require that all health insurers and health maintenance organizations to offer coverage for the treatment of breast cancer by dose-intensive chemotherapy/autologous bone marrow transplants or stem cell transplants when performed according to nationally accepted protocols. Deductibles and copayments shall be the same as for other types of coverage in the policy. The offer of benefits must be made in writing and must be accepted in writing by the individual or group policyholder.

The policy may contain a provision imposing a lifetime benefit maximum of not less than $100,000. Exceptions are made for certain policies. This act applies only to policies issued or renewed after January 1, 1996.
