HB 180 -- Search and Seizure by Highway Patrol
This bill grants to members of the State Highway Patrol the same powers of search and seizure given to all peace officers. Current law limits the patrol to searches incident to an arrest made following a hot pursuit from a public highway.
The bill also repeals a sunset provision on the patrol's authority to request a search warrant from the prosecuting attorney.
