HB 124 -- Landlords and Tenants

In addition to modernizing language relating to landlord/tenant relations, this bill permits landlords to initiate eviction proceedings against tenants who use or sell illegal drugs; allows landlords to perform court-ordered evictions under the supervision of a law enforcement officer if the court officer fails to deliver possession of the premises to the landlord within 15 days; permits the assessment of double damages in actions against a tenant; allows landlords to remove property from abandoned premises when proper notice is given; requires a landlord or tenant to give one month's notice when terminating a month-to-month tenancy; and simplifies procedures for new landlords when titles are transferred or agents are used for managing property.
