HB 69 -- AFDC Eligibility

This bill states that the amount of gross income from employment which does not exceed 133% of the federal poverty level will be disregarded in assessing an applicant's eligibility for and the amount of payment under the Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC) program. Gross income above 133% of the federal poverty level will be considered in determining AFDC eligibility and grants on a dollar-for-dollar basis. No other disregards for employment income are allowed.

The Division of Family Services will apply for a waiver of federal AFDC requirements as necessary to implement this bill. The bill will become effective on the first day of the month following notice that a federal waiver has been obtained.
