Current Bill Summary

SB 357 - Under this act, the practice of pharmacy shall include the provision of medication therapy services, including the authority to prescribe drugs and controlled substances according to a written medication therapy services protocol.

Any pharmacist who provides medication therapy services is required to have a written medication therapy services protocol from a physician. Such protocol must come from the physician only, and may not come from a nurse engaged in a collaborative practice arrangement, a physician assistant engaged in a supervision agreement, or, under this act, an assistant physician.

Any pharmacist who has received a certificate of medication therapy services authority may engage in the provision of medication therapy services.

This act is identical to HB 1234 (2019).
