SB 19 - This act provides that anyone convicted of second, third, or fourth degree assault where the victim was a law enforcement officer, firefighter, or emergency medical provider who was assaulted during the performance of or as a direct result of their official duties are ineligible for bail or continuation of bail.

Under this act anyone found guilty of first, second, third, or fourth degree assault is ineligible for probation or parole if the victim was a law enforcement officer, firefighter, or emergency medical provider who was assaulted during the performance of or as a direct result of performing their official duties. Anyone found guilty of the offense of resisting or interfering with arrest, detention, or stop is ineligible for probation or parole only when the offense is punished as a Class E felony. However, if the offense of resisting or interfering with arrest, detention, or stop is punished as a Class A misdemeanor then eligibility for probation or parole is made at the discretion of the court.
