Current Bill Summary

SB 417 - This act creates the "Primary Care Transparency Act", which requires health carriers to report to the Department of Insurance, Financial Institutions, and Professional Registration annually by March 1 their total health care medical expenditures and total primary care expenditures, as such terms are defined in the act, for the previous calendar year.

No later than March 31 of each year, the Department shall report this information to the General Assembly, including per-carrier and aggregate totals of health care medical expenditures, per-carrier and aggregate totals of primary care medical expenditures, and the per-carrier percentages and aggregate percentile of total primary care medical expenditures.

Individual patient information provided in compliance with this act shall be confidential and reported from each health carrier in the aggregate.

This act is similar to HB 879 (2019).
