Current Bill Summary

SB 217 - This act makes it a Class E felony offense of unlawful transfer of weapons for a licensed firearms dealer to deliver a handgun to a purchaser without waiting at least 72 hours and upon receipt of the purchaser's criminal background check.

This provision does not apply to the sale of a firearm to a law enforcement officer in the course of the officer's official duties.

This act is similar to SB 711 (2018), SB 152 (2017) and SB 1122(2016).
