SB 789 - This act creates the Missouri Care Counts Program to provide funding to public schools, including public charter schools, in St. Louis to purchase washing machines and dryers. The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education shall coordinate and administer the program. Schools shall submit an applicant to the Department to be considered for the program. Priority for distribution of moneys shall be given to schools with the highest percentage of enrolled students participating in the free and reduced price lunch program. Subject to appropriations, the program shall be funded by the Missouri Care Counts Fund created under the act.

The provisions of this act shall sunset after six years unless reauthorized by the General Assembly.

This act is similar to SB 219 (2017).
