SB 698 - This act requires all genetically modified meat and fish that is raised and sold in Missouri to be identified on its label as genetically modified. Violations of this requirement is a Class C misdemeanor.

Persons who do not knowingly or intentionally use genetic modification will not be in violation of the act. A person may rely on the sworn statements of another that the animals or fish they have purchased are not genetically modified.

The provisions of this act do not take effect until September 1, 2019.

This act is substantially similar to SB 533 (2014) and SB 155 (2013).
