Current Bill Summary

SB 642 - Currently, gas corporations may make an application to the Public Service Commission to approve rate adjustments outside of general rate proceedings to reflect nongas revenue effects due to weather or conservation. Under this act, all gas, electrical, water, and sewer corporations may make an application to the Commission to approve such rate adjustments to adjust rates to account for the impact on utility revenues of increases or decreases in customer usage. Under this act, if such application is made, it shall be approved by the Commission if the Commission finds that the adjustment meets certain criteria.

This act is similar to SB 705 (2018), a provision contained in SS#5/SB 564 (2018), HCS/HB 2265 (2018), SCS/HCS/HB 2216 (2018), and HCS/HB 1999 (2018).
