SB 1001 - Currently, when a death occurs outside a licensed health care facility, the coroner or coroner's deputy or medical examiner shall make a determination if further investigation is necessary.

This act provides that when a death occurs under the care of a hospice, no investigation shall be required if the death is certified by the treating physician of the deceased or the medical director of the hospice.

This act is identical to HCS/HB 1895 (2018).
