SB 582 - This act provides that in the event of a breach of data maintained in an electronic form that includes personal information of a student, the school district shall notify the parent or legal guardian of the affected student. Notification of the breach shall also be sent to the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and the State Auditor.

This act is identical to a provision in HCS/SB 478 (2017).

HA 1: THIS AMENDMENT CHANGES THE TITLE FROM "PERSONAL INFORMATION DATA OF STUDENTS" TO "PERSONAL INFORMATION DATA".

HA 2: MODIFIES PROVISIONS RELATING TO UNLAWFUL USES OF CREDIT CARDS.

HA 3: ADDS A DEFINITION FOR "EDUCATION RECORDS".
