SB 291 - Under this act, all state employees shall be given the option to take up to ten consecutive days of paid parental leave for either of the following reasons:

• The birth of the employee's child; or

• Because of the finalization of the employee's adoption of a child under the age of two.

Paid parental leave shall be separate from any other type of leave granted to employees. Moreover, employees shall not be required to use any other type of accrued leave prior to being eligible to use paid parental leave.

Employees shall provide reasonable notice to the supervisor of his or her intent to take paid parental leave.

This act is identical to HB 325 (2017).
