SB 243 – This act modifies provisions of law relating to the distance at which a motor vehicle may follow another to include consideration of the presence of a connected braking system operating on the vehicle.

This act also excludes motor vehicles using a connected braking system from the prohibition against buses and trucks following motor vehicles within three hundred feet.

This act is similar to provisions in HCS/HB 108 (2017), SCS/SB 923 (2016), SS/HB 1733 (2016), and HCS/HB 2345 (2016).
