Current Bill Summary

HCS/SCS/SB 237 - This act creates a definition for the term "employee" and repeals the definition for the term "physician employee" in provisions relating to causes of action for damages against a health care provider for personal injury or death.

The act also states that in causes of action for damages against a health care provider for personal injury or death a health care provider, rather than an individual or entity, shall not be liable for the actions of another who is not the health care provider's employee.

This act is similar to the truly agreed to and finally passed version of HB 452 (2017).
