Current Bill Summary

SB 936 - This act requires an insurer to send an insured written notification of policy renewal at least thirty days prior to the effective date of the new policy and a renewal notification notice at least thirty days prior to the expiration of the current policy if an insurer will only renew a contract in less favorable terms to the insured. The renewal notification notice shall also be mailed to the producer of record. The provisions apply to both insurance for owner-occupied habitational properties not exceeding two families and automobile insurance. This act also requires insurers to send renewal notices for automobile insurance thirty days prior to the effective date of the new policy rather than the fifteen days currently required.

This act is substantially similar to HB 2386 (2016).
