HCS/SB 909 - This act designates certain state highways and creates a process for the naming of additional highways and bridges.

SALE OR LEASE OF HIGHWAY OR BRIDGE NAMING RIGHTS - Section 227.218

The Highways and Transportation Commission is authorized to issue a request for proposals to sell or lease naming rights for particular parts of highways and bridges. All contracts for the sale or lease of naming rights must be approved by the Commission and the Joint Committee on Transportation. Contracts may be disapproved for any reason and cannot exceed ten years in length. Any moneys from such sale or lease must be deposited into the state road fund. No naming rights can be sold or leased for any segment of a highway or bridge that was named a memorial highway or bridge prior to August 28, 2016. The provisions of this section shall expire on December 31, 2016.

This provision is identical to a provision in HCS/SB 625 (2016) and is similar to HCS/HB 2382 (2016).

SENATOR EMORY MELTON MEMORIAL HIGHWAY - 227.411

This act designates the portion of Business Highway 37 in Barry County within the city limits of Cassville as the "Senator Emory Melton Memorial Highway".

PHYLLIS D. SHELLEY MEMORIAL HIGHWAY - 227.446

This act designates a portion of U.S. Highway 50 with Moniteau County as the "Phyllis D. Shelley Memorial Highway."

This provision is identical to a provision in HCS/SB 625 (2016).
