SB 196 - Currently, there are no regulations for automated license plate reader systems or automated traffic enforcement systems. This act bans the use of all automated license plate reader systems and automated traffic enforcement systems by government entities. It allows for a thirty day grace period to request preservation of data currently in existence after the enactment of the ban only under a warrant or a preservation request submitted to a court of competent jurisdiction.

This act contains provisions similar to SB 599 (2014).
