Current Bill Summary

SB 932 - This act requires the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to make computerized and non-computerized testing options for the high school equivalency examination available at no additional cost to applicants.

The Department is prohibited from using a high school equivalency examination that is described or promoted as being aligned with the Common Core State Standards unless there is no alternative readily available.

The Department must ensure that any high school equivalency examination be administered so as to not discriminate against students with certain medical diagnoses or those applicants with an individualized education program. The Department must administer an individualized examination to accommodate the applicants.

This act is identical to HB 1919 (2014).
