Current Bill Summary

SB 801 - Currently, the Renewable Energy Standard requires that an electric utility's maximum average retail rate increase be calculated by estimating and comparing the electric utility's cost of compliance with least-cost renewable generation and the cost of continuing to generate or purchase electricity from entirely nonrenewable sources. This act requires that in making this calculation, the Public Service Commission may only use costs for capital projects after they have been placed into service and expenses that have been incurred and paid.

This act is similar to HB 1664 (2014).
