Current Bill Summary

SB 482 - This act mandates that the City of St. Louis shall establish a special docket for the prosecution of offenses where the lead charge involves a weapon. The docket shall be organized by the presiding judge, and two circuit judges shall be assigned to preside over the docket.

The presiding judge shall assist in coordination and sharing of information concerning the docket with the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of Missouri-St. Louis or the municipal police department, prosecuting attorney, circuit attorney, and state office of probation and parole.

Every six months following the creation of the docket, the circuit court shall publish a report on the operations of the docket, including comments offered by the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of Missouri-St. Louis and certain local law enforcement entities.

After sixty months, the armed offender docket may be continued or discontinued at the discretion of the presiding judge.

This act is similar to SB 448 (2013).
