Current Bill Summary

SB 136 - This act gives motorists the option of registering their vehicles triennially rather than biennially. Under current law, a motorist may register his or her vehicle on an annual or biennial basis. Under this act, the motorist is given the option of registering his or her vehicle either annually or triennially. In addition, this act replaces the current biennial motor vehicle inspection system with a triennial motor vehicle inspection system. The act also makes other various changes throughout the statutes to reflect the transition to a triennial registration option and a triennial motor vehicle inspection (e.g. fee office fee changed from $7.00 biennial fee to a $10.50 triennial fee).

The act has an effective date of July 1, 2014.
