SCS/SB 421 - This act requires the Department of Health and Senior Services to promulgate rules governing the immunization against meningococcal disease for children attending public, private, parochial, or parish schools. This act also requires each student attending a public institution of higher education who lives in on-campus housing to receive the meningococcal vaccine unless he or she has a medical or religious exemption. The Department of Health and Senior Services must oversee, supervise, and enforce this requirement and may promulgate rules. MICHAEL RUFF
