SS/HB 1713 - Under this act, no health carrier or health benefit plan shall issue or renew a health benefit plan to a Missouri resident unless the health benefit plan covers adopted children of an insured on the same basis as other dependents (Section 376.816). This provision is also contained in the truly agreed to version of SB 583 (2010). Under current law, health insurers are only required to issue direct payments to members of a class of providers with whom there is a direct contract. This act requires insurers to issue direct payments to providers of the same class with whom there is no contract (Section 376.427).
