HCS/HB 2064 - Currently, under the Intractable Pain Treatment Act, physicians may prescribe controlled substances for therapeutic purposes for a condition resulting in pain where the cause cannot be treated. The act is renamed the Pain Treatment Act, under which physicians may prescribe controlled substances for therapeutic purposes for any pain regardless of the cause. Pharmacy technician registration shall lapse thirty days following the expiration date.
The Board of Pharmacy may issue cease and desist orders to stop persons from engaging in or offering to engage in the practice of pharmacy or wholesale drug distribution by those holding no license, certification, registration, or permit from the board.
Licensed pharmacists are not required to acquire permits to perform nondispensing activities outside of the pharmacy, subject to board rule.
The act repeals a provision requiring the Board of Pharmacy to publish a list of drug products for which generic substitutions are not permitted.
