HJR 39 - This proposed constitutional amendment, if approved by the voters, secures a citizen's right to acknowledge God according to the dictates of personal convictions. The state or any political subdivision shall not establish any official religion, but also shall not infringe upon a citizen's right to pray or express religious beliefs. The state may not coerce any person to participate in any prayer or other religious activity, but shall ensure that public school students are able to exercise their right to free exercise of religious expression without interference, provided that such expression is not disruptive and abides within the same parameters placed upon any other free speech. All public schools are required to display the text of the First Amendment of the United States Constitution.JIM ERTLE
