HCS/SCS/SB 972 - This act authorizes the Governor to award a Public Safety Medal of Valor to a public safety officer, upon the recommendation of the medal of valor review board, for extraordinary valor above and beyond the call of duty. The design of the medal may be determined by the Governor.

Further, the act:

- Outlines provisions for the posthumous awarding of the medal;

- Defines which public safety officers are eligible for the award;

- Details the selection and functioning of the board; and

- Sets up the Missouri Public Safety Officer Medal of Valor Fund, to be administered by the Office of Administration.
