Current Bill Summary

SB 1295 - This act allows Northwest Missouri State University to be transferred to the curators of the University of Missouri by agreement between the board of regents of Northwest Missouri State University and the board of curators of the University of Missouri. After such an agreement is rendered, Northwest Missouri State University shall thereafter be known as "The University of Missouri - Northwest." However, if such an agreement is not achieved by August 28, 2005, the provisions of this act shall become null and void.

All employees of Northwest Missouri State University shall become employees of the curators of the University of Missouri on August 28, 2005. The act outlines specific personnel, retirement, and benefit policies for such employees including a provision which allows any employee who desires to continue participation in their current benefit programs to continue such participation.

Further, the act renders certain alterations to the statutes necessary for the incorporation to occur. Such alterations shall only become effective upon the commencement of an agreement between the two boards and the providing of written notice to the revisor of statutes concerning the rendering of such agreement.
