Current Bill Summary

SB 585 - This act creates the Office of Victims of Crime within the Department of Public Safety for the purpose of promoting the fair treatment of crime victims. The act also increases the surcharge on all criminal cases and juvenile cases filed in municipal or county courts from $5 to $10. A portion of such moneys are earmarked for administrative and operational costs of the new Office of Victims of Crime.
