SCS/SB 287 - Under this act, the Department of Revenue shall not release information contained in its motor vehicle or driver registration records regarding a peace officer. A peace officer can notify the Department of Revenue to request that his or her records be held in private. The current law only protects county, state, or federal parole officers and federal pretrial officers. The act extends the confidentiality to members of the officer's immediate family and allows the Department of Revenue to release the information if the officer has a commercial driver's license.
