SCS/SB 41 - This act requires the University of Missouri to fund research projects on spinal cord injuries. The Board of Curators may request appropriations to fund such projects. An advisory board is created to solicit and select projects to receive grants of up to $50,000. The advisory board includes:

- 2 physicians active in research and patient care; - 2 nonphysicians engaged in research; - 1 nonphysician professional providing patient care; - 2 nonresearchers active in associations or organizations dealing with disorders, diseases, and injuries; - 1 representative of the board of curators; and - 1 member of the General Assembly

Project selection will be on the basis of peer review, the merits of the work proposed, and an evaluation of the potential benefits of the proposed research. All research must be conducted in Missouri.
