Current Bill Summary

SCS/SB 4 - This act provides for changes in the salary ranges for various levels of police officers in Kansas City.

This act also provides that peace officers be included within the confidentiality requirements of the Department of Revenue. Under this act, the Department of Revenue will not release information contained in its motor vehicle or driver registration records regarding a peace officer. An exception is made to allow the release of information if the officer holds a class A, B or C commercial drivers license pursuant to the Motor Carrier Safety Improvement Act of 1999, 49 U.S.C. 31309.

A peace officer can notify the Department of Revenue to request that the peace officer's information be held in private.
