SS/SS#3/SJR 35 - This joint resolution submits dual questions to voters at the same election containing proposed constitutional amendments regarding the Missouri Citizen's Commission on Compensation for Elected Officials. The Commission is charged with recommending the compensation for statewide elected officials, judges and members of the General Assembly. It was created in 1994. The Commission recommended increases in compensation in 1996 that were not funded by the General Assembly and its recommendations in 1998 were funded by the General Assembly but vetoed by the Governor.

One proposal, if approved by the voters, would repeal Article XIII, Section 3 of the Missouri Constitution, pertaining to the Missouri Citizen's Commission on Compensation for Elected Officials. The other proposal, if approved by voters, would clarify that the rate of compensation established by the Commission is subject to appropriation for each position and in such amounts as set by the General Assembly, and revise the number of members appointed by the Governor from twelve to eight.
